Just how much gold (and other precious metals) has ever been mined?

Gold, while one of the earliest metals known to man, is also among the most rare found on Earth. Other precious metals, such as Silver, and Platinum are also plenty rare. Just how much of these metals has ever been mined? You'd probably be surprised...

Gold (Au)

Total mass mined to date = approx 5,770,000,000 oz = 164,000 metric tons
Total value @ $1,115/oz (December, 2009)  = $6,433,550,000,000

Fun fact: That's more than the Gross Domestic Product of Germany and Russia combined! (2008)

How big is 5.77 BILLION oz of gold?
Total volume = 8,480 cubic meters. (@ 19.3 g/cm^3)
That would make a cube of 20.4 meters on each side!

The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is 18 meters tall.

Silver (Ag)

Total mass mined to date = approx 40,000,000,000 oz = 1.1 million metric tons
Total value @ $17/oz (December, 2009)  = $680,000,000,000

Fun Fact: That's about as much as the 2008 Bailout of the US financial system!

How big is 40 BILLION oz of silver?
Total volume = 108,000 cubic meters. (@ 10.5 g/cm^3)
That would make a cube of 47.6 meters on each side!

The Statue of Liberty is approximately 46 meters tall.

Platinum (Pt)

Total mass mined to date = approx 186,000,000 oz = 5,800 metric tons
Total value @ $1,430/oz (December, 2009)  = $265,980,000,000

Fun Fact: That's almost enough to make the movie 'Titanic' 1000 times!

How big is 186 MILLION oz of platinum?
Total volume = 250 cubic meters. (@ 21.5 g/cm^3)
That would make a cube of 6.3 meters on each side!

The world's tallest giraffe was 6 meters tall.

So to sum up, the metals would make cubes of the following dimensions:
